At SteepleMate, our mission is to support churches and faith-based organizations in building thriving, connected communities. However, we understand that there may be times when SteepleMate may no longer meet your ministry’s needs, or you may simply need to adjust your service level. Whether you’re looking to cancel your subscription entirely or downgrade to fewer services, this guide will walk you through the steps.
Considering Downgrading Instead of Canceling?
If you would like to keep certain SteepleMate services but reduce your subscription level, you have the option to downgrade instead of canceling. This allows you to keep access to specific services that best suit your ministry’s needs without fully ending your SteepleMate experience.
For more information, please see our Downgrade Your Subscription article.
How to Cancel Your SteepleMate Subscription
If you’re the Account Administrator and have decided that SteepleMate no longer fits your ministry’s needs, follow the steps below to cancel your subscription.
Important Reminders
• Only the Account Administrator can initiate a cancellation.
• Data Access: Once your account is canceled, all data, access, and information associated with your subscription will no longer be available, so please ensure you export any necessary information beforehand.
• Recurring Charges: After cancellation, recurring charges will stop, and no further billing will occur.
Step 1: Export Your Data
Before canceling your subscription, we recommend exporting any data or reports you may need in the future. Once your subscription is canceled, access to the account and associated information will be disabled permanently. For instructions on exporting data, refer to our Data Export Guide.
Step 2: Review and Downgrade Your Subscription (Optional)
If you’d like to retain access to specific SteepleMate services instead of a full cancellation, consider downgrading. You can adjust your subscription in the Administration menu under Subscriptions.
Step 3: Cancel Recurring Donations (if applicable)
If you’re managing recurring donations through SteepleMate, make sure to notify your donors and cancel any scheduled donations prior to canceling your subscription. This will prevent any unintended donations from being processed after your account is closed.
Step 4: Disable Integrations
To ensure that all external connections are securely disconnected, disable any third-party integrations you’ve set up in SteepleMate. Doing this before cancellation helps keep your data secure and ensures a smooth transition. For more on managing integrations, refer to our Integration Management Guide.
How to Cancel Your SteepleMate Subscription
Once you’re ready to proceed with cancellation:
1. Go to Administration in your SteepleMate account.
2. Select Subscriptions from the dropdown menu.
3. Click the large, red Cancel button at the bottom of the Subscriptions page.
What Happens After I Cancel?
• Data Deletion: All account data will be queued for deletion 30 days post-cancellation. If you need a temporary recovery period, please contact SteepleMate Support within this timeframe.
• Billing: No further charges will occur following your cancellation.
• Data Access: Access to your account, including historical data and reports, will be permanently disabled.
How Can I Access Data from a Canceled Account?
To recover data or access your account temporarily post-cancellation, please contact our Support Team. Note that recovery is only available within the initial 30 days following cancellation.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve your ministry and are here to assist with any questions or needs you may have throughout this transition. If you have further questions, please reach out to our Support Team.
