How to Expunge a Person’s Data in SteepleMate
SteepleMate provides an option to permanently delete a person's data from the system. This action is designed to help comply with privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, this action is irreversible, so please ensure that data expungement is necessary before proceeding. If you are trying to resolve duplicate records, use the Administration > Resolve Duplicates feature instead.
Steps to Expunge a Person’s Data
Log into SteepleMate.
At the top left corner of the screen in the header, locate the Person icon.
Select the Person icon and navigate to your profile.

Within the profile, locate and click on the “Delete User Data” button.

A prompt will appear with the following message:
“All of this person's personal data will be deleted from SteepleMate, including (but not limited to) the following:
Login/Account Information
Personal Images (retained only when needed for chain of custody reporting)
Addresses
Phone Numbers
Email Addresses
Payment Information (payment methods, recurring payments, etc.)
This action is available to enhance your compliance with privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Note that you may be responsible for additional safeguards related to physical storage of data or data stored in systems outside of SteepleMate.
If you are removing this person because it is a duplicate person record, please use the Administration > Resolve Duplicates feature instead. Please make sure that the first and last name match exactly; for instance, 'Rob Smith' would not be found as a duplicate of 'Robert Smith'.
If you choose to continue, this account will be deleted, and this person will no longer have access to SteepleMate for your church. Any bookkeeping/financial records for this person will be stored anonymously and no longer associated directly with them.
THIS ACTION CANNOT BE UNDONE.
Confirm the deletion by typing the person’s first and last name in the provided field.
Click “Purge Data” to finalize the deletion.

Important Notes:
Once a person’s data is expunged, it cannot be recovered.
The person’s financial records will still exist in the system but will be stored anonymously.
If the deletion was accidental and the profile is needed, a new profile will have to be created manually.
If you are unsure whether expungement is the correct action, contact SteepleMate Support
before proceeding.
