How to Manage Tasks in SteepleMate

Tasks in SteepleMate help your team keep up with follow-up, office responsibilities, and ministry workflows. You can create tasks for yourself or assign them to other people in the system, set due dates, track progress, and review assigned work from the task screen.


What You Can Do with Tasks

Use tasks in SteepleMate to:

  • assign work to yourself or another person

  • track workflow and administrative duties

  • organize follow-up items

  • monitor task progress by status

  • filter task lists to see the items that matter most


Create a New Task

  1. From your Dashboard, locate the Tasks tile.

  2. Click Manage Tasks.


  3. Click New Task.



On the Task Details screen, complete the fields you need:


Subject

Enter the task name or title.


Tags

Add a tag to help organize and search for the task later.


Description

Enter details about what needs to be done.


Assign To

Use the dropdown menu to select who the task should be assigned to.

You can assign a task to yourself or to another person in the system.


Due Date

Choose the date the task should be completed.


Status

Select the current status of the task. Available statuses shown include:

  • Blocked

  • Complete

  • In Progress

  • Not Started

  • Waiting for Feedback


Notes

Add any extra notes, updates, or internal details related to the task.


Notify Assignee By Text

Before saving, you can check Notify Assignee By Text if you want the assigned person to receive a text message notification.

  1. Click Save.


The task will now be added to the system.


View and Manage Tasks

After a task is created, it will appear on the task screen where you can review and manage existing tasks.


From the task screen, you can filter tasks to show:

  • Completed tasks

  • Only your tasks

  • Unassigned tasks

  • All assigned tasks

These filters help you focus on your personal work, identify open items, and review tasks across your team.

You can also mass update or delete tasks. 
1. Select two or more tasks using the checkbox. 
2. Click the Selected menu to mass delete, notify assignee(s), or mark all as blocked, completed, in progress, not started, or waiting for feedback.


Best Practices for Task Management

To keep tasks useful and easy to follow:

  • use clear subject lines

  • assign each task to the correct person

  • set realistic due dates

  • keep notes updated as work progresses

  • use statuses consistently so your team can quickly understand what needs attention


Common Uses for Tasks

Tasks can be used for many types of church work, including:

  • administrative follow-up

  • event preparation

  • volunteer coordination

  • member care reminders

  • office workflow items


Need More Help?

If a task is not appearing as expected, confirm that:

  • the task was saved successfully

  • the correct assignee was selected

  • filters are not hiding the task from view

  • the task status matches what you are trying to find
