Importing Data into SteepleMate

Our team can import your members and finances for free! Let us handle the heavy lifting and get your data into SteepleMate without the
hassle. Just send us the exported file from your previous system, or connect with your account manager for additional help in retrieving the data.
Go to the Administration Menu
From your SteepleMate dashboard, click on "Import Data" to begin the process.

Select an Import Option
Choose the import option that best suits your data needs (e.g., people or contacts) and download the appropriate data template provided by SteepleMate.

Step 2: Preparing Your Data for Import
Download and Review the Template
SteepleMate provides a template that corresponds to your chosen import option. Make sure your data is formatted according to this template to avoid errors during the import process.
Populate the Template with Your Data
Fill in the relevant fields in the template, ensuring all required information (such as names, addresses, and contact details) is entered correctly.
Step 3: Uploading Your Data
Click "Upload SteepleMate Person Format"
Once your data is ready, click this option to start the upload process.
Browse for Your File
Click Browse to locate your prepared file on your computer, then select it for upload.
Upload Your File
After selecting your file, click Begin to begin the import.

Import Options and Validation
Validate Cell Phone Numbers
If you want to ensure all cell numbers in your import are valid for texting, select the Validate Cell Numbers option. This process incurs a small one-time charge per number validation but ensures your contact numbers are accurate.
First Row Contains Column Names
If the first row of your template contains the column headings (e.g., Name, Address, etc.), be sure to select this option so SteepleMate knows to ignore this row during the import.
Mark Individuals as Active Members
If all the individuals you're importing are active members of your congregation, you can check the Mark All Individuals as Active Members option. This will automatically categorize them as active upon import.
Step 4: Completing the Import
Once you have reviewed and selected the additional options:
Finalize the Upload
SteepleMate will process your file and begin importing your data. Depending on the size of your data file, this may take a few moments.
Verify the Import
After the import completes, you can review the data in your Person Manager to ensure that everything has been imported correctly.
