How to Move a Person to a New or Existing Family in SteepleMate

Move a Person to a New or Existing Family

Sometimes, family members may be incorrectly listed in SteepleMate. Whether it’s a spouse added separately or a child listed apart from their parents, this guide will show you how to move a person to either a new family or an existing family, ensuring accurate family records.

Step 1: Accessing the People Management Section

  1. From the left navigation menu, click on Manage, then select People.
  2. Enter the name of the head of the family in the search bar and click Search to locate the individual.

Step 2: Moving a Person to a New Family

  1. Once the person is located, scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Click on Options and select Move this Person to New Family.
  3. The individual will now be designated as the head of a new family, and a new family profile will be created for them.

Step 3: Moving a Person to an Existing Family

  1. After locating the person, scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Click on Options, then choose Move this Person to Existing Family.
  3. A form will appear where you can enter the name of the head of the family you wish to move the person to. Click Search to locate the family.
  4. Complete any necessary information in the provided form.
  5. Once done, click Save to confirm the changes and move the person to the existing family.

Additional Tips:

  • If the person being moved is part of multiple family groups, ensure that their role and relationship status is accurately updated after the move.
  • Use the Search function carefully to ensure you're moving the person to the correct family, especially if multiple families share similar names.
