Move a Person to a New or Existing Family
Sometimes, family members may be incorrectly listed in SteepleMate. Whether it’s a spouse added separately or a child listed apart from their parents, this guide will show you how to move a person to either a new family or an existing family, ensuring accurate family records.
Step 1: Accessing the People Management Section
- From the left navigation menu, click on Manage, then select People.
- Enter the name of the head of the family in the search bar and click Search to locate the individual.
Step 2: Moving a Person to a New Family
- Once the person is located, scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Click on Options and select Move this Person to New Family.
- The individual will now be designated as the head of a new family, and a new family profile will be created for them.
Step 3: Moving a Person to an Existing Family
- After locating the person, scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Click on Options, then choose Move this Person to Existing Family.
- A form will appear where you can enter the name of the head of the family you wish to move the person to. Click Search to locate the family.
- Complete any necessary information in the provided form.
- Once done, click Save to confirm the changes and move the person to the existing family.
Additional Tips:
- If the person being moved is part of multiple family groups, ensure that their role and relationship status is accurately updated after the move.
- Use the Search function carefully to ensure you're moving the person to the correct family, especially if multiple families share similar names.
