Organize pages on your church website

Organize pages on your church website

You can now name and reorder the pages in your church website menu, then group website sections under those pages. Keep the existing single scrolling page if that layout works better for your church. These controls are in the Section Order and Visibility area of the Church Website editor.

Open the page controls

1. Sign in at steeplemate.com and choose Media > Church Website from the left menu. Scroll to Section Order and Visibility, then find Pages.

Open Church Website from the Media menu.

Choose a single page or multiple pages

2. Select Single page to keep one scrolling page. The checked sections appear in the order shown; use their up and down arrows to rearrange them. Home stays first and Footer stays last.

Single page keeps the site sections together in one scrolling layout.

3. Select Multiple pages to create separate links in your site menu. The upper list contains the named pages, such as About Us, Visit Us, and Happenings. Home is the landing page. The lower list contains the website sections you can show and assign to those pages. Home and Footer appear on every page.

The upper list defines menu pages; the lower list assigns sections to those pages.

Name and arrange the menu pages

4. Edit a name directly in its text field to change how that page is labeled in the menu. Enter a name in New page name and select Add Page to create another page. Use the arrows beside a page to move it up or down in the menu; use its trash button to remove it. The editor permits up to 10 pages. An empty page name is dropped when you save.

Rename pages in the upper fields, add a page below, and use the arrow and trash buttons.

Place sections on pages

5. In the lower list, check the sections to display. Use each section’s dropdown to choose the page that should contain it. For example, Events and Announcements can go under Happenings, while Visit can go under Visit Us. Use the section arrows to change the order within the page. Church Library categories have their own checkboxes and arrows inside that section.

Assign a section to a page with the dropdown beside its name.

6. Review the full list, then click Save to apply the changes. Only sections with content can appear for some categories, and content marked Public is what anonymous visitors can see. The first page also catches sections not assigned to a page; a page with nothing to display is left out of the menu automatically.

Use the section arrows to adjust their order before saving.

Tip: You can change the arrangement again later without rebuilding the website. Preview the public site after saving to confirm the menu and sections appear as intended.
