Set up a child check-in station

Set up a child check-in station

Child Check-In can now run as a station on a tablet or other device at your church entrance. Choose a locked station for a device that will be left unattended, or keep an attended device unlocked when a staff member needs to move between check-in and the room and history views.

Open the station

1. Sign in to SteepleMate on the device you plan to use at the door. From the left menu, select Sunday School > Child Check-In.

Find Child Check-In under Sunday School.

2. Select the event for the check-in session, then click Open the station. Start on the device that will stay at the door.

Open the station for the selected event.

Choose how the device will be used

The prompt asks whether the device will be left unattended. Make this choice based on who can physically access the device:

Lock this device

Use it unlocked / stay signed in

For a self-service tablet at the door that may be unattended.

For a device a staff member will actively supervise.

Keeps the device on the check-in station and blocks other SteepleMate pages until someone taps Sign out. It is safe to leave at the door while signed in.

Lets the signed-in staff member move between the station and the Rooms and History views. Other SteepleMate pages and account data remain accessible on an unlocked device.

You can lock an initially unlocked station later from the top bar.

Use Sign out whenever you step away; do not leave an unlocked, signed-in device unattended.

The device prompt explains the two options and the access risk.

Check in a household

Search by last name, phone number, or family code (or use the number pad). Select the matching household, choose the people checking in, and assign a room to each selected person. The example shows Show adults because that household has no children listed; a typical child check-in will list the children in the household.

Search for the household on the station.

When the selections and rooms are correct, tap Check in. The station can then reset for the next family, and labels print if your check-in setup includes printing.

Tap Check in after selecting attendees and rooms.

Views available while signed in and unlocked

Rooms shows the people checked into a room and offers Refresh and Print roster. History lets staff review check-in records, filter by date or name, print, and see check-out status. Station returns to the family search screen. These views are useful to a supervised staff member; lock the device or sign out before leaving it unattended.

History shows check-in records and check-out status.

Tip: The household, event, room, and attendance details in these screenshots are examples. Your church will see its own records and configured rooms.
