Why Duplicates Happen in SteepleMate and Why It’s a Good Thing

In some church management systems, donations made by individuals who aren’t signed in may be treated as “anonymous,” and the donor’s information isn’t stored. This can lead to missed opportunities for follow-up or proper recognition.

SteepleMate, however, takes a different approach. We capture donor information even if they aren’t signed in when making a donation. This ensures that every contributor is accounted for, preventing anyone from slipping through the cracks. As a result, you may notice duplicates in your merge queue, as a new profile could be created for a donation that wasn’t tied to an existing account.

While this may require some occasional profile merging, it guarantees that you always have a complete view of your donors, helping you maintain a more accurate and inclusive record of contributions.
