How to Enter Donations from Organizations or Companies in SteepleMate
If your church receives contributions from organizations or businesses, you can track those donations in Offering Management just like you would for individual members or guests. This article will walk you through how to properly enable and record these contributions in your SteepleMate system.
Step 1: Enable Organizations and Vendors in Entry Options
By default, Organization and Vendor contributor types are not shown in the dropdown list when entering gifts. To enable them:
- Go to Offering Management.
- Open or create a contribution batch.
- In the top right corner, click the Options button.
- In the pop-up window that appears, check the boxes for:
- Organization
- Vendor
- Click the green Refresh button to apply your changes.
Once this is done, those contributor types will now appear in the selection dropdowns when entering gifts.

Step 2: Record the Organization’s Gift
- Click the New button to enter a new contribution.
- In the Contributor dropdown, search for and select the organization or vendor (must already be added to the system).
- Select the appropriate:
- Source (e.g., check, cash, etc.)
- Source Identifier (e.g., check number)
- Fund the gift should be credited to.
- Click Save to record the gift.
Additional Notes
If the organization has not been added to SteepleMate yet, you’ll need to add it as a contact first under Manage > People.
Once properly recorded, these contributions can be included in Contribution Statements and reports for end-of-year documentation.
