How to Redirect Your Domain to a SteepleMate Church Website (Using GoDaddy)
If you’d like to redirect your existing domain (e.g.,
www.yourchurch.com) to your SteepleMate website
(e.g., https://[churchID].steeplemate.com), you can follow these steps. This requires some technical setup, but it’s manageable if you have experience with domain management.
Steps to Redirect Your Domain on GoDaddy:
- Log in to Your GoDaddy Account
- Visit GoDaddy and log in with your username and password.
- Go to Your Domain Settings
- Click on My Products from the main menu.
- Find the domain you want to redirect and click DNS or Manage DNS.
- Set Up a Forwarding Rule
- Scroll down to the Forwarding section and locate the option for Domain.
- Click Add or Edit if there is an existing forwarding setup.
- Enter the Redirect Details
- For the Forward To field, enter your SteepleMate website URL:
- Example: https://[churchID].steeplemate.com
- Choose the Forward Type:
- Select Permanent (301) if this will be a long-term redirect.
- Set the Redirect Behavior:
- Choose whether to Forward only or Forward with masking. (Masking means users won’t see the SteepleMate URL in their browser.)
- Save the changes.
- Verify the DNS Record Changes
- Changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate across the internet, though it’s often much quicker.
- Test Your Domain
- Once the redirect is active, type your domain (e.g., www.yourchurch.com) into a browser to ensure it redirects to your SteepleMate website.
