How to View or Edit Your Church Directory in Grid Mode

The View/Edit in Grid feature in SteepleMate is a powerful tool designed to help church administrators efficiently manage and organize member data. With this feature, admins can easily customize which member details are visible in the directory, such as contact information, important dates, or membership status. The ability to bulk edit information directly in the grid and export the data to Excel, CSV, or DOCX formats streamlines tasks like updating records, generating reports, or preparing directories. This functionality enhances data accuracy and simplifies day-to-day administrative tasks, saving time and effort.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to view or edit your church directory in Grid Mode, and export the data to Excel, CSV, or DOCX formats.

Step-by-Step Instructions:


    1. Go to the Manage menu and select People.

  1. Select View/Edit in Grid Mode

    1. Once in the People section, click the light blue button labeled View/Edit in Grid.

  2. Customize Visible Columns

    1. After the grid or table view appears, you can customize which columns are visible.
    2. Use the checkboxes to select or deselect specific columns. For example:
      1. To view who is married and their anniversary date, select the Marriage column.
      2. Columns like Birthdays and Anniversaries are grouped together under a “Dates” section.
      3. You can also toggle other columns like Phone Numbers, Addresses, and Emails.

  3. Refresh the Table

    1. After selecting the columns you want to view, click the Refresh button. The table will update to display the selected columns.

  4. Bulk Edit Information

    1. From the grid, you can also perform bulk edits. For instance, you can update multiple people’s names, types, or other information simultaneously.

  5. Export the Directory

    1. To export the entire table, click the Export button at the top-right corner of the screen.
    2. You can export the data in various formats, including Excel, CSV, and DOCX.
    3. Once exported, you can distribute the file as needed.
