Taking Church Attendance Through the Web

This article explains how to record attendance for a service using SteepleMate on the web, and explains how guest tracking works behind the scenes.

Info
Want to take attendance through the mobile app? Read the related article here.

Log in to SteepleMate. In the left navigation, go to Manage. Select Track Attendance.

Use the drop down to select the service you would like to take attendance for.

Choose Sorting and View Options
  1. Use the Sort By Groups checkbox to control how people are listed. When Sort By Groups is enabled, attendees are organized by their Attendance Groups.
  2. Use Compact View for a simplified attendance list. In Compact View, profile photos are hidden and the layout is streamlined to show just the essential information.
  3. All Attendance Groups (take attendance for every attendance group in that service) vs Choose Groups (select one or more specific groups to take attendance for). Click one of these options to move to the next screen.
If you selected the NON-Compacted View, you can toggle between Group View and Family View
  1. Group View - people are grouped by their Attendance Group.
  2. Family View - people are grouped by family/last name, so all members of a family appear together.
Info
Click the light blue "Family View" or "Group View" button to switch.

Marking Attendance (Standard / Non-Compact View)
  1. Find the person you want to mark present.
  2. Click or tap the slider next to their name to select them. You may select multiple people before saving.
  3. When you are ready, click Save.

After you save:
  1. Everyone you selected as present is removed from the list.
  2. The names that remain in the list are considered absent for that service.
  3. If a person has already been marked present (by themselves or someone else), they will not appear in this list.
Info
Tip: You can also right-click (on a computer) or double-tap (on a touch device) anywhere on the screen to display the Save button.

Marking Attendance (Compact View)

If Use Compact View is enabled:
  1. Click or tap a person’s name to select them. Selected names will appear in italics.
  2. When you are ready, click Save.
After saving:
  1. The people you selected are removed from the list and are marked present.
  2. Remaining names are considered absent.
When you’re done, simply exit the window.

Info
You can change between Compact and non-Compact views at any time while taking attendance.
