Set Up a Sermon Archive in the Church Library

This guide walks you through the process of setting up the Church Library, as an example we will setup a Sermon Archive. You can use the Church Library to organize sermons, bible studies, or any media you would like to store privately or share publically or with specific church groups.

Access Level Required:
You must have at least Media Center access or higher.

Step 1: Navigate to the Church Library

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Media.
  2. Click Manage Library.

Step 2: Create a Media Type

  1. At the top of the screen, click Manage Media Types.

  2. Click the New button.

  3. Name your new media type (e.g., Sermon Archive).
  4. Click Update to save.
  5. Use the orange Back button to return to the Church Library.

Step 3: Add a Sermon

  1. At the top of the table, click New.

  2. A new window will open—this is where you add your media.

Step 4: Upload the Media File

  1. Select Media Type: Choose Sermon Archive.
  2. Select Source:
    1. Use an existing URL or
    2. Upload a file (MP4 format preferred).
  3. File Guidelines:
    1. Allowed file types: Most formats except .exe, .db, etc.
    2. Max file size: 50MB

Step 5: Add a Thumbnail

  1. You can upload a custom image or use a URL.
  2. Allowed file types: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp
  3. Max file size: 4MB
Idea
Tip: Test the thumbnail to ensure it looks good on your web template. Avoid images that are too small or oddly shaped.

Step 6: Finalize Sermon Details

  1. Date: Choose the date of the sermon.
  2. Title: Name your sermon.
  3. Description: Add optional notes or sermon context.
  4. Visibility:
    1. Public: Viewable by anyone online.
    2. Logged-in users: Only accessible to users logged into SteepleMate.
    3. Restricted by group: Only visible to a selected group (e.g., Bible Study).
  5. Click Save to finish.

Step 7: Viewing the Sermon Archive

  1. From the left menu, go to Media > Church Library.

  2. You’ll see your uploaded sermons as tiles.
  3. What each member sees will depend on the visibility settings.
