How to Manage User Access Levels in SteepleMate

How to Manage Access Levels in SteepleMate

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to access, modify, and audit user access levels within your SteepleMate system.

Step 1: Access the Access Levels Page

  1. From the left navigation menu, go to Manage > Access Levels.

  2. You’ll be taken to a screen displaying all users who have attempted to access your organization through SteepleMate.

Step 2: Understanding the Access Levels Grid

  1. Modify Column: Click Edit to update a user’s access level or Delete to remove their access.
  2. Validated Column:
    1. A ✔️ checkmark means the user has verified their account via email or text.
    2. A ❌ X means the user attempted to sign up but did not complete the verification process. This can happen if their email or phone number is incorrect, or they didn’t enter the verification code.
  3. Last Activity Date: See when each user last accessed your SteepleMate system.

Step 3: Change User Access Level

  1. Click Edit in the Modify column.
  2. Choose the desired Access Level from the dropdown (e.g., SuperUser, KioskUser).

Step 4: Auditing Access – “View As Different Role”

To preview how the system appears to someone with a different role:
  1. Click the View As Different Role button.
  2. This allows you to temporarily impersonate another role (e.g., KioskUser, GroupLeader).
  3. ⚠️ Important: Your permissions will remain changed until you log out and back in.
  4. And Please Note: If you’re part of groups with additional rights (e.g., Finance), those menus will still be visible even while impersonating a lower role.
