Enable Self-Service Contribution Statements in SteepleMate

Setup Contribution Statements for Church Members

Prepping for tax season? Before you generate contribution statements, you'll want to check your settings. This article explains how an organization administrator can allow church members to print their own contribution statements and how to update the greeting that appears on those statements. It also includes a quick tip for checking duplicate profiles before printing.

Warning
Who Can Perform These Steps?
Only the organization administrator can complete this process. They are the only person with access to the finance settings for the entire organization.

Step 1: Enable Self-Service Contribution Statement Printing

  1. Log in as the organization administrator.

  2. Open the Administration menu and Select Organization Settings.

  3. Navigate to: Finance / Offering Mate / Merchant Account.

    1. In this section, locate the option to allow users to print their contribution statementCheck the box to enable this option.

  4. Click Save at the bottom of the section.

Once this setting is enabled and saved, church members will be able to print their own contribution statements from their own Giving menu.

Step 2: Update the Contribution Statement Greeting

While you are on the same screen:

  1. Find the Contribution Statement Greeting field and enter or update the text you want displayed at the top of the contribution statements.

    1. This greeting can take the form of a letter or a personalized message to your donors.

    2. Remember that you can edit this greeting each time you generate contribution statements.

  2. Click Save at the bottom of the section to apply your changes.

Before printing contribution statements or announcing that they are ready to be printed, it’s a good idea to check for any duplicate profiles in your system. Duplicate profiles can cause contributions for the same person to be split across multiple statements, which can create confusion for donors.

For instructions on how to handle this, see the related knowledge base article on merging duplicate profiles.
